Pyridoxal Phosphate, also known as 5-pyridoxal phosphate, or PLP, is a derivative of vitamin B6 and is an active form of vitamin B6 that is involved in a variety of metabolic reactions in proteins, fats and carbohydrates. The Pyridoxal Phosphate is the coenzyme of transaminase and decarboxylase in the metabolism of amino acids. It can promote the decarboxylation of glutamic acid and increase the production of GABA. As the coenzyme of aminotransferase, Pyridoxal Phosphate can link amino acids, carbohydrates and fat metabolism through transamination and can also produce a variety of bioactive substances such as histamine, serotonin, GABA, ethanolamine, hydroxy tyramine, and taurine through decarboxylation.

The Pyridoxal Phosphate is involved in hematopoiesis as a coenzyme of 6-amino-gamma-ketovalerate (ALA) synthetase. As an important component of glycogen phosphorylase, Pyridoxal Phosphate is also involved in the decomposition of glycogen into glucose-1-phosphate. In addition, Pyridoxal Phosphate is also involved in fat metabolism, promoting the growth of white blood cells.
