Pyridoxal Phosphate, also known as 5-pyridoxal phosphate, or PLP, is a derivative of vitamin B6 and is an active form of vitamin B6 that is involved in a variety of metabolic reactions in proteins, fats and carbohydrates. The Pyridoxal Phosphate is the coenzyme of transaminase and decarboxylase in the metabolism of amino acids. It can promote the decarboxylation of glutamic acid and increase the production of GABA. As the coenzyme of aminotransferase, Pyridoxal Phosphate can link amino acids, carbohydrates and fat metabolism through transamination and can also produce a variety of bioactive substances such as histamine, serotonin, GABA, ethanolamine, hydroxy tyramine, and taurine through decarboxylation.
